Summary:
The Sudden Deafness is a neurosensitive hypoacusic of, at least 30db
in three audiometric contiguous frequencies, that develops in a period
not longer than three days, few hours or few days. The severity varies
from light deafness to complete deafness. The hypoacusic can be permanent,
that is why the diagnosis in advance and treatment influence in the
results.
There are about ten new cases per 10,000 persons a year. Most of them
occur in the fifth decade of life and it can affect either both sexes.
